Artist: Azmyl Yunor

One of the hardest gigging and respected Malaysian indie/underground musicians for the past decade, singer-songwriter Azmyl Yunor is noted for his folk rock songs via his manic acoustic guitar strumming and harmonica solos (a style he dubs "Folk n' Roll"). His witty on-stage banter and off-the-cuff social commentary between songs also sheds some light on most of the stories in his songs. As a musician, he has also dabbled in punk, free-form instrumentals and experimental noise rock. He has been recording and releasing his own music since 1997, releasing them on his own Rapidear label (his earlier obscure cassette home recordings are out of print). He formed Troubadours Enterprise with fellow singer-songwriters Jerome Kugan and Tan Sei Hon in 2005 to organise the annual KL Sing Song singer-songwriter showcase (now in its fifth year) to promote the genre and original local music. Other than gigging consistently locally, he has also performed in South Korea, Australia, Laos, and Singapore amongst others. His latest album "Warga" (released by Troubadours), released in May 2010, has been hailed as one of the groundbreaking indie albums of the year by the local music press and his best and most mature work to date.
